Environmental Compliance Specialist

Crosby & Overton, Inc. is presently seeking a qualified Environmental Compliance Specialist for its Long Beach hazardous waste treatment facility.

As the Crosby & Overton, Inc. Environmental Compliance Specialist, your responsibilities are to ensure that our Long Beach location (TSDF), and Hayward (transfer facility) location comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and laws pertaining to environmental issues, such as air pollution, industrial wastewater discharges, stormwater quality, and hazardous waste management.  The physical job location is in Long Beach, CA, and is a full-time position.

Job tasks include the following:

  1. Investigate potential violations through weekly/monthly on-site inspections, with write-up of any findings or issues.

  2. Manage environmental data for regulatory agency document submittals, including,

  3. Annual stormwater reports;

  4. Enviroware input for Annual HW reports;

  5. Review of manifest data for Environmental Fee calculations;

  6. Hazardous waste, and hazardous materials transporter licenses, and authorization renewals for CA, and NV;

  7. Permit renewal applications as required;

  8. Annual hazmat updates to Business Emergency Plans in Hayward, and Long Beach.

  9. Consult with other C&O team members (Approvals Chemist, Laboratory Director, Plant Manager, CEO, among others about on-going programs and projects for the company to implement.

Requirements for the position:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, as well as experience with compliance issues in a specific industry, and in Southern California.  Applicants should be familiar with the regulatory framework in California as it pertains to local and state agencies. Hazwoper 40 hr. Certificate.

Important skills for the job include the ability to conduct research, good analytical thinking skills, and strong written and verbal communication.

Laboratory Technician

Crosby & Overton, Inc. is presently seeking a qualified Laboratory Technician for its state certified laboratory. Qualified candidates should have a ”hands-on” experience in the operation of Gas Chromatograph, ICP(Inductively-Coupled Plasma), UV spectrophotometers, pH meter, calorimeter and other laboratory equipment. Requirements include: Basic Chemistry or AA degree in Chemistry or Environmental Science, team oriented, good communication skills, and Hazwoper 40 hr. Certificate.
